    Our cabin is located at the far end of the parking lot.
     

DISCOVERY/FAMILY TOUR GUIDE MEETING AREA
 

  • Cody Cave Provincial Park Cabin.

The cave parking lot is located 10.7 KM up a steep and rugged forest service road 4km north of
Ainsworth Hot Spring Resort.  Do NOT use GPS as it could send you the wrong way.

Allow at least 45 minutes to reach Cody Cave Provincial Park from Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort.
 

WE SUPPLY THE CAVING EQUIPMENT, HOWEVER….
 

Dressing in layers is highly recommended.
The tour begins with an 800-meter (20-minute) uphill outdoor hike from the parking lot to the cave entrance.
The cave is 4ºC/39ºF, the same as your refrigerator, and follows a natural stream.
Be sure to bring warm clothing, such as a fleece or hoodie (avoid cotton or denim), for comfort in the cave.
Additionally, it's a good idea to bring extra clothing to change into after the tour.

 

MANDATORY FOOTWEAR REQUIREMENT
 

Rubber boots, hiking boots, or sturdy running shoes.
Strictly prohibited are open-toed shoes, flip-flops, and Crocs for your own safety.
Be aware that your feet may get wet, so bring a change of shoes and socks for after the tour.
 

FOREST SERVICE ROAD INFORMATION

The road is generally passable from June through October for two-wheel drive vehicles with moderate clearance.

Allow additional time to drive the forest service road as conditions can change unexpectedly.

The road is unsuitable for motorhomes, vehicles towing trailers, sport motorcycles,

 or vehicles with low ground clearance. Drive with caution.

Directions

Cody Cave Provincial Park can be reached by following a narrow forest service road that leaves Highway 31 and is 4 km. north of Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort. The road is approximately 10.7 km long and is passable from June through October for two wheel drive vehicles with moderate clearance.  Please Contact Us if more information is required.

 

At the bottom of the forest service road set your trip meter to zero.  Follow the main dirt road marked with directional arrows.  At 1.3 km, keep left.  At 2.9 km, turn left. At 3.8 km keep right. At 4.7 km, keep left.  At 5.7 km, turn left.  At 6.6 km, you can overlook Kootenay Lake. 

Continue until 10.7 km to reach Cody Cave Provincial Park.  

There are NO REFUNDS for NO SHOWS so please allow sufficient travel time to get to the meeting area.

Ainsworth is approximately 4km / 5 mins south of the access road to Cody Caves Provincial Park.  Below are the distances to Ainsworth from the following places.
