Know Before You Go

No experience necessary 

Caving is a strenuous activity, however anyone age 5 and up and capable of a moderate 20 minute hike to the cave entrance will enjoy this unique adventure.

We supply the caving equipment

All you need to bring is your enthusiasm, warm clothing, sturdy footwear, a water bottle & an energy bar.

Suitable footwear mandatory

Gum/Rubber boots, Hiking boots or Sturdy running shoes. (NO open toed shoes permitted)

For your own safety, you will not be permitted into the cave without suitable footwear.

The cave is cold and wet.

Approximately 4ºC/39ºF - The same temperature as your refrigerator.

Dress warm, preferably in fleece, polyester or wool items of clothing that you can move comfortably in.

Layers are recommended and it is important to dress for the weather as there is a 20 minute steep outdoor hike from the parking lot to the Cave Entrance
Family & Geology Tours - COVERALLS  ARE NOT PROVIDED - you may get wet/muddy.

You should bring extra clothing and footwear to change into after the tour.

Transportation is not provided.

The Cave Parking lot is located 10.7 KM up a steep and rugged logging road 4 km North of Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort

The road is passable during May through October for two wheel drive vehicles with moderate clearance (ALLOW AT LEAST 30 MINUTES JOURNEY TIME). The access road is unsuitable for large motorhomes, vehicles towing trailers or vehicles with low ground clearance. Drive with caution

A waiver must be completed for each participant before beginning the tour.

To keep tours on schedule please arrive 15 Mins prior to your scheduled tour time. 
 

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Due to logistics and remote cave location, once your tour is booked we are unable to offer a refund.
If we cancel your tour for any reason we offer an alternate tour or a full refund

Cody Cave Provincial Park can be reached by following a narrow forest road that leaves the side of Highway 31 at a small gravel pit 4 km. north of Ainsworth. The road is approximately 10.7 kms long and is passable during May through Novemeber for two wheel drive vehicles with moderate clearance (ALLOW AT LEAST 30 MINUTES JOURNEY TIME). The access road is unsuitable for large motorhomes, vehicles pulling trailers or vehicles with low ground clearance.There may be industrial traffic so please observe signage and drive with care. At the bottom of the forest service road set your trip meter to zero.  Follow the main dirt road marked with directional arrows.  At 1.3 km, keep left.  At 2.9 km, turn left. At 3.8 km keep right. At 4.7 km, keep left.  At 5.7 km, turn left.  At 6.6 km, you are at Kootenay Lake view point.  Continue on until 10.7 kms. You have now reached the parking lot! The caves are 0.8 km. (approx 20 minute hike) up the steep trail.

 

Please drive carefully and arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour.

There are NO REFUNDS for NO SHOWS so please allow sufficient travel time to get to the meeting area.
